“Mermaid and Natures”

According to the ancient Finns, humanity is based on three main elements; self, steam, and nature. The self is kind of soul that keeps on excisting in the afterworld, kind of a spiritual form of a person, and the steam presents life energy. In our piece we are exploring the third, most practical part of humanity, the nature. Nature controls inner strenght, ability to overcome obstacles, and one’s charisma and temper. It’s a companion one calls for help when needed. Nature can be passed on from one generation to an other, but if needed, it’s possible to get a new, better nature, or get one in advace for an unborn baby. One can for example steal a nature from a bear, but an other popular method is to drag a nature up from a bottom of a big water. Lakes and seas are seen as gateways to the afterworld.

A nature of a bear might not be the most useful one for modern people, but which are those qualities we need from our back ups nowdays? In the summer of 2017 we will set up an art piece in the river of Porvoo, that will answer these questions and drag up new natures for those who might need them.
